Pip Calculator

About FXBench trading tools

What the Pip Calculator Tells You

A pip is the smallest standard price move in a currency pair: 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for yen pairs. This calculator turns that move into money in your deposit currency, for the lot size you plan to trade, so you know what each pip is worth before you open the position.

The Prices It Uses

Pip value depends on the exchange rate whenever your account currency differs from the pair's quote currency. The calculator loads current prices for the pair, so the result reflects the market as it is now.

Pip Value and Lot Size

One standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency, a mini lot 10,000 and a micro lot 1,000. Halve the lot size and the pip value halves too, which is the simplest way to cut the risk on a trade.

Using It for Stop-Losses

Multiply the pip value by the distance to your stop-loss to see what you would lose if it is hit. If that number is more than you are willing to risk, reduce the position size.

Before You Rely on It

Brokers round prices differently, and some quote fractional pips (pipettes). Treat the figure as a close estimate and check it against your broker's platform before trading.
