How You Are Protected
Client protection depends on the entity that holds the account. Retail clients under FCA, CySEC, ASIC, FSRA, MAS, and FSA Seychelles rules receive protections linked to the relevant regulatory framework. eToro keeps client funds separate from company operating funds and applies negative balance protection to retail CFD clients. Eligible UK clients have access to FSCS protection, eligible EU clients have access to the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund, and U.S. securities clients receive protection through the U.S. securities framework, subject to account type and eligibility.
eToro also applies full account verification. The KYC process requires proof of identity, proof of address, phone verification, and tax details where required. Unverified accounts are limited to a total deposit amount of $2,250.
Restricted availability applies in several jurisdictions. The restricted list includes Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Burundi, Cameroon, Clipperton Island, Cocos Islands, Diego Garcia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Guam, Guatemala, Italy, Lebanon, Namibia, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Sint Maarten, Sudan, South Sudan, Tristan da Cunha, and the United States.
Pricing and Fees
Spreads
eToro uses floating spreads. Benchmark forex pricing starts from 1 pip on EUR/USD and 2 pips on GBP/USD. CFD spreads are the main trading cost on forex, commodities, and indices. The trading screen shows estimated costs before the order is placed, which helps active traders check spread impact before execution.
Commissions
eToro charges no account-opening fee and no management fee. Stock trades can carry a $1 or $2 commission when opening and closing a stock position, based on country of residence and stock exchange. ETF trades are commission-free. Stock Margin positions carry a 0.15% trading commission on opening and closing.
Crypto pricing is tiered. Bronze, Silver, and Gold clients pay a 1.00% fee per crypto position. Platinum clients pay from 0.95% down to 0.10% by monthly volume, Platinum+ clients pay from 0.90% down to 0.10%, and Diamond clients pay from 0.85% down to 0.10%. Cryptoasset transfers from the eToro platform to the eToro Money crypto wallet carry a 2% transfer fee.
CopyTrader has no extra copying fee. The same spreads, crypto fees, and overnight charges apply to copied trades as they do to manual trades. Smart Portfolios have no management fee, but normal fees on the underlying assets still apply.
Swap Fees
CFD positions held overnight can incur financing charges. Overnight fees are charged between Monday and Friday at 22:00 UK time. Weekend fees are triple the normal overnight fee. For most commodities and currencies, the weekend charge is applied on Wednesday. For most stocks, ETFs, and indices, it is applied on Friday. Crypto CFD overnight fees are charged daily.
Islamic accounts are swap-free. They remove interest-based overnight swap charges and replace them with administrative fees on CFD positions held beyond seven days. The minimum deposit for an eToro Swap-Free account is $1,000, and availability is limited to eligible countries such as UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria.
Non-Trading Fees
eToro charges a $10 monthly inactivity fee after 12 months with no login activity. Withdrawals from local currency accounts to an external account are free. Withdrawals from a USD investment account carry a fixed $5 fee, and the minimum withdrawal from a USD account is $30. Currency conversion fees apply when deposits, withdrawals, transfers, or trades require conversion between account currency and asset currency. Diamond Club members receive full FX conversion-fee exemption, while Platinum and Platinum+ members receive a 50% discount.

Customer Support
Channel Variety and Availability
eToro support is available through live chat and ticket. Logged-in users can access chat, while ticket support is used for detailed requests. The
broker also provides a Help Center, account-security resources, a status page, and a customer service portal.
Human agents are online from Sunday 13:00 to Friday 23:00 GMT. Automated support is available outside human support hours.

Response Time
The average tested response time for live chat is about 10 minutes and ticket responses within 48 hours. Actual response time depends on ticket volume, account status, and support queue.
Quality
Support quality is solid for account, funding, platform, and verification topics. The first layer is AI-assisted, which gives quick answers for common questions. More complex issues require ticket escalation. Club members receive stronger support benefits, including dedicated account manager access and WhatsApp support on higher tiers.
A tested interaction showed good handling of regulatory and fund-protection questions. The assistant correctly explained the applicable CySEC compensation scheme for a Netherlands-based account and stated the EUR 20,000 ICF protection limit. However, responses were somewhat scripted and lacked deeper transparency, particularly when asked which banks hold client funds, as no specific institutions were disclosed. Overall, support is fast and informative for standard questions, but less detailed on operational specifics.
Market Research and Education
Market Research
eToro provides news and analysis, market insights, asset news feeds, sentiment tools, earnings reports calendar, market hours and events, watchlists, and analyst content. The platform also includes charting tools and ProCharts for technical analysis.
Educational Resources
eToro Academy offers articles, videos, guides, courses, podcasts, webinars, beginner lessons, crypto education, stock education, and technical-analysis material. The education section is useful for new traders who need platform guidance and for active investors who want simple market explainers.
Promotions and Bonuses
Welcome Bonus
eToro runs regional welcome promotions. The reviewed welcome-bonus profile includes rewards from $40 up to $500 in eligible free assets or cash for new users who sign up, verify the account, and deposit at least $500. One tiered example gives $40 for deposits from $500 to $999 and up to $500 for deposits of $10,000 or more. Promotional funds usually require the deposit to stay in the account for 90 days.
Deposit Bonus
Deposit promotions can provide up to $500 or £500 in free stock or other eligible rewards. Qualification requires account verification, a qualifying deposit, and compliance with the promotion terms. Bonus access changes by country, account entity, and active campaign.
No-Deposit Bonus
eToro does not maintain a universal no-deposit bonus for all clients. Some regions have had small promotional rewards linked to verification or first funding, but the standard live account requires a deposit before trading with real money.
Affiliate Program
eToro operates an official affiliate program called eToro Partners. It is designed for publishers, financial websites, marketers, and influencers. Partners receive referral links, banners, tracking tools, and commission options such as CPA and revenue share. Referred users must be new clients and meet the first-time deposit and qualification rules of the campaign.
Final Thoughts
eToro is a strong choice for traders and investors who want a regulated multi-asset platform with simple execution, social trading, copy trading, and direct access to stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, forex CFDs, commodities, indices, options, and selected futures. Its strongest areas are usability, copy trading, mobile access, market coverage, and transparent platform navigation.
The broker is not the best fit for scalpers, MetaTrader users, VPS-based automated traders, or traders who need raw-spread ECN pricing. Its pricing is competitive for a social-investing platform, but active CFD traders should watch spreads, overnight fees, conversion fees, and the $5 USD withdrawal fee.
CFDs carry high risk. 52% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. eToro is better used with clear risk limits, moderate leverage, and careful position sizing.
